trans enough" - dealing with the leather community

Have you ever been turned away from an event that was
billed as open to all trans* people? Are you afraid to go to events
that cater primarily to biological dykes or fags for fear of rejection
or discrimination? What do we as trans people? Run away? Educate?
Apologize for being there?
This will be an open discussion about the reality of being trans in the
leather community. Everyone is welcome to attend, trans or not. The
focus will be on how to constructively respond as individuals, as trans
people, as allies and as a community.
(*) trans: in this context, anyone
who self-identifies as transexual, transgender, genderqueer,
crossdresser, outside of the gender binary, or on one or more points of
the gender spectrum, etc...
screwup supports the right of individuals to self-identify instead of
having labels forced upon them!
screwup is for trannies, queers, and our friends. This
event is open to
all genders and will be held in the meeting space at Eros. Folks
sometimes go out for coffee or
food afterwards, so come prepared...
$2-5 donation (optional!) will be accepted for a
charity to be determined that evening.

Directions to Eros
The MUNI METRO LINES J,K,L,M,N, the F MUNI STREETCAR LINE, or MUNI BUS LINES 6, 7, 9, 10, 14, 21, 26, 47, 49, 66 and 71 all run within a few blocks of Eros many run within 1 block. Also, take BART (exit at SF Civic Center), then transfer to Muni metro (exit at Church Street) or F Muni streetcar line (exit at Church Street).
Please use public transportation - parking near Eros is not easy.
If you do drive, please be considerate of Eros' neighbors and
do not block driveways or park in blue or white zones.
